ABOUT

FDHS collection focuses on three general historical themes, which recount the evolution of Foster and the surrounding districts from the first Gippslanders - the Gunai-Kurnai, to the present day and includes: Population: past, pioneer settlement, present, settlement patterns, education, domestic life, clubs etc. Industries: mining - in particular gold and tin, timber, fishing, agriculture and the new industries such as olive groves and vineyards. Landscape and built structure: Changes in Foster and the surrounding districts. FDHS collects printed, written, multi-media and digital material, photographs, maps and artworks pertaining to the social history of Foster and the surrounding district.
